B1C2C Right Side Seat Thorax Squib 1 High

B1C2C code - The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the voltage on the right seat squib circuits. The ORC will set this DTC if it detects voltage on the right seat squib circuits.

- Right seat squib line 2 circuit shorted to ground
- Right seat squib Airbag
- Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC)

Diagnostic test B1C2C code

Step 1. Determine active or stored DTC

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, turn the ignition on with the scan tool read the active ORC DTC.

Select active or stored DTC:

Active, go to step 2.
Stored, go to step 4.

Step 2. Check for shorted squib circuits in right seat squib airbag

Disconnect the right seat squib airbag connector, check connectors clean and repair accidentially deployed. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTC.

Does the scan tool display: B1C2C RIGHT SIDE SEAT THORAX SQUIB 1 HIGH?

Yes, go to step 3.
No, replace the right seat squib airbag. Perform the Airbag system verification.

Step 3. Check right seat squib line 1 circuit and right seat squib line 2 circuit for a short to battery

Disconnect the ORC connectors, check connectors clean and repair as neccesary. Measure the voltage of the right seat squib line 1 circuit between the ORC harness connector and ground. Measure the voltage of the right seat squib line 2 circuit between the ORC harness connector and ground

Is there any voltage present on either circuit?

Yes, repair the right seat squib circuits with voltage present for a short to battery.
No, replace the ORC.  Perform the Airbag system verification.

Step 4. Stored ORC DTC.
