B1C2B Right Side Seat Thorax Squib 1 Low

B1C2B code - The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the resistance of the right squib circuits. the ORC will set this DTC if it detects low resistance on the right seat squib circuits.

B1C2B code
Possible causes B1C2B code
- Right seat squib line 1 circuit shorted to ground
- Right seat squib line 2 circuit shorted to ground
- Right seat squib Airbag
- Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC)

Diagnostic test B1C2B code

Step 1. Determine active or stored DTC

Make sure that the battery is fully charged. Turn the ignition on.

Select ACTIVE or STORED DTC:

ACTIVE DTC, go to step 2.
STORED DTC, go to step 4.

Step 2. Check for shorted squib circuits in right seat squib airbag

Disconnect the right seat squib airbag connector. Do not place an intact non deployed seat squib airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag will propel into the air if acidentially deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTC.

Does the scan tool display: B1C2B?

Yes, go to step 3.
No, replace the right seat squib airbag. Perform the Airbag system verification.

Step 3. Check right seat squib line 1 circuit and right seat squib line 2 circuit for a short to ground

Disconnect the ORC connectors. Measure the resistance of the right seat squib line 1 circuit between ground and the ORC harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the right seat squib line 2 circuit between ground and the ORC harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10k Ohms on either circuit?

Yes, repair the right seat squib circuits with resistance below 10k Ohms for a short to ground.
No, replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). Perform the Airbag system verification.

Step 4. Checking stored or intermittent codes

With the scan tool record and erase all airbag system module DTC. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the related wiring and connectors for chafed, pinched, pierced, and partially broken wires, and for broken, bent, push out, corroded, and contaminated terminals. repair as necessary.

Are any active DTC present?

Yes, refer to based diagnostic ORC and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No, no problem found at this time. Erase all codes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
